About 4-H

4-H Canada empowers young Canadians to become skilled, engaged, and responsible leaders who are passionate about making meaningful contributions to the world around them. We provide a safe, fun, and inclusive environment that prepares them to make a positive impact on their community, on their country, and around the world.

4-H Canada is made up of over 24,000 members and 7,400 volunteers across the country. However, volunteers are actually called leaders—and for good reason. We are an organization built around leadership. By providing 4-H’ers with mentors and role models who lead by example, we give youth the opportunity to enjoy meaningful, positive experiences that build confidence, positive self-identity, self-esteem and a sense of achievement.

4-H Canada invests in a bright future for today’s young people with a mandate centred on positive youth development. We provide a safe, fun, and inclusive environment by following this model:

Our Strategic Priorities

Today, young Canadians of all backgrounds face challenges, such as obesity, academic competition, mental health, youth violence, substance abuse, and societal change. This generation faces unprecedented challenges and uncertainty about the future of the planet they will inherit.

4-H’ers are offered the opportunity to become leaders, and to develop and thrive in a safe and fun learning environment. They are taught how to make a difference—one positive change at a time.

Now, more than ever, young people need 4-H. And 4-H Canada has developed a strategic plan to direct our growth across Canada. To achieve our goals, we will focus on four key areas of impact:
