Get Ready to #ShowYour4HColours on November 5, 2014

Ottawa, November 3, 2014 – 4-H Canada invites you to break out your green clothing on November 5, 2014 in support of Show Your 4-H Colours Day.

Dig into your closets, pull out your favourite green clothes, and join over 30,000 4-H members and volunteer leaders on Show Your 4-H Colours Day to celebrate one of Canada’s leading positive youth development organizations.

4-H Canada is encouraging all clubs, members, families, and partners to show support by sending their “green” photos to communications@4-h-canada.ca for inclusion on the 4-H Canada Facebook page. We will be featuring submitted photos throughout the day to thank our supporters and show the world the inspiring faces of 4-H. Twitter fans can also post their own photos tagging @4HCanada and using the hashtag #ShowYour4HColours.

Show Your 4-H Colours Day will also mark the kick-off of the 2014 4-H Canada Members’ Forum. Over 85 4-H’ers will come together in Toronto, ON from November 5-9 for a fun-filled week of learning, exploring, and connecting around the theme of The Environment & Healthy Living. From an Evergreen Brickworks Sustainability Tour to “Taking Care of Me” personal wellbeing sessions to an Open Space Technology meeting, delegates will dive into mindful activities relating to environmental considerations and personal health reflections.

In honour of this year’s celebrations, 4-H Canada is also ramping up exciting new initiatives that provide 4-H’ers with the opportunity to get active and engaged in the community while celebrating the 4-H movement in Canada and raising awareness of 4-H Canada and our role as one of the most highly-respected youth organizations in the country.

The 4-H Selfies with Sears contest -- held in partnership with Sears Canada, a dedicated sponsor of 4-H Canada for over 63 years -- encourages 4-H’ers to visit their local community Sears store between November 4-10, take a “selfie” featuring 4-H’ers and Sears employees and then post that photo on social media. Twitter fans can post the photos tagging @4HCanada and @SearsCA and use the hashtag #4HSelfiesWithSears. The first 15 clubs to submit their selfie to 4-H Canada will receive a $200 Sears gift card to benefit their club.

4-H Canada truly hopes you will join us in green on November 5, and help us embark on another year of fostering leadership, engagement, confidence, and empowerment in today’s youth.
