Thanks Ronda, This group of girls have done some really interesting food projects in the last few years. Their first create-a-project was an International Dessert Tea Party which was absolutely amazing. They have done Healthy Living presentations in schools, French cooking, and Appetizers. They have even catered a wedding dinner for a past 4-H member. I like your idea and will pass it on to the girls - in the meantime if you do come across any historic recipes we would love to try them out. I do have a cookbook from your region that has a lot of older recipes they could try out but what we would really like is the 4-H contection.

Janet, that sounds like a really interesting idea (the recipe calendar)! I am a 4-H leader for "Foods" in Nova Scotia. Most years I let my group create their own recipe at one meeting. For instance, one year they created "Seabreeze Chicken Veggie-Noodle Soup" and another year it was "Lucky Stars Fresh Fruit Salad" (Seabreeze and Lucky Stars being the names of the 4-H Clubs). They got to choose which veggies or fruit they wanted to put in or leave out and decide on the name. Maybe your club could start off or end off the calendar with a recipe they create themselves. Good Luck!

I am a 4-H Leader with the Balmoral 4-H Club in Manitoba and the project that my members are doing this year is a recipe calendar for the year 2013. While they will be testing and publishing new recipes they would like to have some historic 4-H recipes from around 1913. If there is anyone out that that might have a recipe or two that they would share with us we would really appreciate the input. Thank you

Hi Heidi,
It was wonderful traveling around with you too! Hope you enjoyed being the YAK rep and it looks like you remembered a lot of things I had forgotten. Congratulations on graduation and good luck next fall.

hi there,
thanks for sharing your story. it's great to hear personal stories. we are looking for stories for the AGM that tell stories of how 4H is embracing the future.
while you are at the citizenship seminar would you be open to getting some stories from the youth who are there and posting them on the Facebook page? Stories will be shared at the AGM and the best stories will win a FLIP camera. Pass it on!! Thanks!
